Analysis of keratin and hair structure under a microscope

At Hollywood Hair Lab we use optical and electron microscopes to analyze:

🔬 keratin structure and its adhesion to the hair fiber,
🔬 even distribution of keratin in the joint,
🔬 material reaction to high temperature and mechanical styling.

This research allows us to create bonds that are minimal, flexible and durable, yet imperceptible and almost invisible even in very thin hair.

Author's keratin colors - perfect match

The Lab also produces our unique keratin colors, matched to different hair shades – both natural and dyed. Each pigment is:

👉🏻 tested for temperature resistance,
👉🏻 tested for color stability during long-term wear,
👉🏻 analyzed in combination with a specific type of band - so that it blends in perfectly and remains unnoticeable.

The result? Precise, "invisible" joints that remain discreet regardless of light, styling or sun exposure.

Application of infrared scanning (IR-scan)

At Hollywood Hair Lab, we also use infrared technology (IR-scan) as one of the methods of analyzing the quality and condition of hair. Infrared scanning allows for the assessment of the level of moisture, elasticity and protein structure of the hair, as well as the identification of traces of previous chemical processes.

Thanks to this method, we are able to better understand how different types of strands respond to styling, thermal or chemical treatments – and which ones meet our premium quality requirements.

Hair Quality Assessment in Red Light

We also use red light as a simple but effective method to aid in assessing the surface structure of hair. Under red light:

healthy hair reflects light evenly and has a smooth structure,
damaged or dry hair scatters light unevenly, has a dull, patchy shine, and can be observed as differences in porosity and potential damage to the strands. This is an additional observational tool that supports daily selection and quality control of materials.

Quality tests of cosmetics for hair extensions

At Hollywood Hair Lab, we conduct multi-stage quality tests of cosmetics that support hair care after the treatment. We analyze:

✨ compatibility with keratin – do they weaken or dissolve the connections,
✨ pH of products – affecting the scalp and durability of connections,
✨ thermal protection – real effectiveness when using a straightener or dryer,
✨ penetration of active ingredients into the hair structure,
✨ reaction to different types of bands (Slavic, European, mixed),
✨ fragrance, consistency and durability of the formula – even after opening and in changing storage conditions,
✨ resistance to everyday use conditions.

We test how our strands and products behave in various external conditions:

✔️ in contact with sea and chlorinated water,
✔️ during exposure to UV radiation,
✔️ for intensive thermal styling,
✔️ in situations of increased sweating or humidity (e.g. sauna, heat, physical activity).

Control of services and application techniques

Hollywood Hair Lab is also a place where we test and standardize our proprietary methods, such as HH Nano Blend. We analyze:

✔️ durability of connections over time and in various conditions,
✔️ ergonomics of tools used for application,
✔️ aesthetics of blending strands in different lengths and structures,
✔️ scalp reactions and client comfort after application.
